RSV close to the win in Jarama

2009-06-07 - Informaciones
The second meeting of the National GT finished with the best results of 2009 for the Aston Martin N24. On Saturday, the Spanish team obtained a second position under the rain, and finished the work with an excellent third position on Sunday.

Joan Vinyes’s adaptation process to the Aston Martin was not bad at all. After a great performance in the free sessions, the Andorran assumed his responsibility to beat the classification, and got a great third position among the GT Light. In addition, Ronald Severin achieved a fifth position for the race on Sunday.

Shortly before the first race, it started to rain a lot. Joan Vinyes showed no fear against the weather and, due to his great experience in the rallies – where he usually has to drive under difficult conditions – and gave most of the grid a driving lesson. The Andorran led his category and even preceded several GTS and GTA with a production car - amazing. Ronald Severin showed a great performance too, who kept the leadership in the GT Light before he gave way to the Ginetta. However, the second position was the best result of RSV since the season started.

On Sunday, on a dry track, Ronald Severin and Joan Vinyes did it step by step. Severin, who was fifth on the grid, kept the fourth position before he gave his partner the wheel in the 13th lap. From that moment Vinyes tried to reduce distance with his predecessors. Finally, Muñoz and Monarri’s car had problems, which allowed RSV to obtain the third position for the third time this year.

Ni Amorim is coming back to the cockpit of the Aston Martin in the next meeting of the Spanish GT Championship in Estoril on the 18th and 19th of July.
